Longhorns block Eagle victory route

McCOOK, Neb. — Chase County and Southern Valley are both 7-6 following the Longhorns’ 48-39 victory at McCook Community College Tuesday evening.

The Longhorns took charge with a 15-8 first quarter as sophomore Mallie McNair began her 17-point effort.

However, the Eagles rallied behind another powerful 21 points from senior Cassie Bose.

Bose scored 24 in Southern Valley’s weekend win over the Holdrege Dusters.

The Eagles only trailed 22-19 at halftime and closed within 31-29 through three quarters.

The Longhorns finished strong thanks to a 17-10 final period.

Chase County visits Perkins County Thursday. SV hosts Broken Bow on Friday.
