McCOOK, Neb. — Just like the girls, Chase County’s boys started fast and finished strong for a 64-51 win over Southern Valley Tuesday night.

The Longhorns (3-8) clearly enjoyed a rare game at McCook’s Peter & Dolores Graff Events Center.

They built a 20-14 first-quarter lead which held up throughout despite some Eagle comeback attempts.

Southern Valley (3-9) only trailed 32-28 by intermission but saw Chase win those final two periods 14-11 and 18-12.

No individual stats were obtained for the Longhorns.

Senior Chaston Burgeson’s 14 points paced the Eagles while freshman Clayton Berry tallied 10.

Senior Kade Bose and freshman Brody Yant added nine points apiece.
