Cambridge splits with Norton
CAMBRIDGE, Neb. -- Cambridge improved to 8-2 with a 59-37 win over Norton, Kan., Tuesday night in Cambridge.
The Trojans held a narrow 9-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter before 50 points over the final three periods.
Norton , which did not feature any seniors in Tuesday’s game, was led by sophomore Carter Jones’ 14 points. Fellow sophomore Kade Melvin had eight, while freshman Jonah Ruder added five.
Lady Bluejays 42, Lady Trojans 27
In the girls’ game, ice-cold shooting haunted Cambridge in a 42-27 loss to Norton.
The Lady Bluejays held a 26-14 lead at halftime before outscoring the Lady Trojans 16-13 in the final two quarters.
Korynn Clason led Cambridge with nine points, while Bria Tomlin added six. Tomlin had a team-high five rebounds.
The Lady Trojans finished 9-of-48 from the field for 18.8 percent shooting. Tomlin’s 33 percent outing (2-of-6) was the team-high.
Taryn Kuhn led Norton with 17 points.
Cambridge (7-3 record) will be back in action this Friday with a boys/girls doubleheader at Sutherland.
