Bison set for GNAC softball tourney
LEXINGTON, Neb. — McCook can score a second win over Class A Kearney this week since the softball teams meet in Saturday’s GNAC tournament opener.
The Bison (14-11 record) are seeded while Kearney (11-24) has claimed No. 5 among eight teams competing.
McCook just beat the Bearcats, 13-9, on Thursday night in a game featuring six home runs at McCook’s Jaycees Complex.
First pitch on Saturday is set for 10 a.m. McCook-Kearney meet on Field 2 opposite of other first-round games featuring No. 3 North Platte vs. Columbus (Field 3) and No. 2 Norfolk vs. No. 7 Lexington (Field 1).
No. 1 Hastings meets No. 8 Scottsbluff at noon to finish first-round play.
McCook will play next against either the Tigers or Bearcats at 2 p.m.
Double-elimination tournament play contines into Saturday’s GNAC title game set for 6 p.m.
Hastings clearly appears to be the favorite, having already beaten McCook twice this year.
