McCook Community College basketball begins this weekend and both the men and women are teaming up to stage a “Midnight Madness” Saturday session to tip off the season with fans.

It starts at 6:45 p.m. Saturday in the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center.

The night will include giveaways for fans, a slam-dunk contest, 3-point contest, and the first look at the 2017-2018 MCC basketball squad. At 7 p.m, the lights will go out with the official introduction of players.

The 3-point competition begins at 7:30 p.m.

Players will have 45 seconds to shoot five shots from three different locations with a “money ball” included.

At 8 p.m. the slam dunk competition begins with judges rating each dunk.

The Lady Indians will take the court at 8:30 then play a 10-minute half.

The men take the court at 8:55 p.m. then play a 10-minute half.

The women come back for the second-half of their 10-minute game at 9:20 p.m. and the men will conclude their game at 9:30 p.m.

Following pre-season road tournaments in Dallas Oct. 6-7 and in Denver Oct. 13, the men will play a scrimmage Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. against Colby, this scrimmage is open to the public.

The MCC Tip-Off classic Nov. 3-4 will officially open the basketball season.
