Area runners top Chase County Invite

IMPERIAL, Neb. -- Chase County's Will Kuenne and DCS’ Sable Lambley followed up last week’s Cambridge Invite titles with first-place finishes at Thursday’s Chase County Invite.

Kuenne was the boys' champion with a time of 17:16.97, narrowly beating out Ogallala's Jack Lindgren (time of 17:17.53). DCS' Philip Boyd and Damon Latta took fifth and sixth overall, while MHC's Max Diaz was seventh.

Perkins County was the boys' team champion with a score of 31 to beat runner-up Ogallala (score of 51). DCS was third with 54, while Chase County (67) and MHC (81) rounded out the top five.

DCS' Sable Lambley won the girls' race with a time of 20:05.40, while Ogallala's Lucia McKeag (20:32.30) took second. MHC's Kayla Minary was sixth overall, while Hitchcock County's Amanda Mote took seventh. Chase County’s Maddison Brown (10th place) was the only other area runner to finish in the top-10. Cambridge’s Cali Gunderson was 14th.

The girls’ team race was tightly contested, with North Platte St. Patrick and Chase County tying with 38 points for the team title. Hitchcock County narrowly finished third (39 points), while DCS (118) was seventh.
