MHC loses to Maxwell, drops first match of season
MAYWOOD, Neb. -- Maywood-Hayes Center suffered its first loss with a 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 11-25, 25-17) setback to Maxwell Thursday in Maywood. The Wolves drop to 4-1, while Maxwell improves to 1-1.
“Maxwell is a very good team with some tough hitters,” said MHC head coach Kory Rohde. “We played well at times, but we let their hitters get to us.”
Sydney Mullen-Shaw led the Wolves with 11 kills, while Jayden Widener added nine. Mullen-Shaw also had a team-high four ace serves.
Jaycee Widener was MHC’s leader in assists with 13 and Grace Koubek was close behind with 12.
Despite the loss, Rohde was optimistic that his team will use Thursday’s result to make themselves a stronger team going forward.
“We will learn from this game and get better.”
Medicine Valley 3, Eustis-Farnam 1
CURTIS, Neb. -- Medicine Valley notched its first win of 2017 with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-27, 25-12, 25-22) win over Eustis-Farnam Thursday in Curtis.
The Raiders now sit at 1-2, while the Knights drop to 0-4.
Med Valley will be in action Saturday at the Seven Valleys Tournament in Callaway.
