Unbeaten O'Brien Royals, Masonic Phillies prevail
FELLING FIELD — O’Brien Electric Royals defeated First Central Bank Tigers 11-4 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game.
O’Brien Electric Royals trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the third inning when Alexander Anthony doubled off of Brett Fraker, driving in two runs.
Alexander Anthony led O’Brien Electric Royals to victory by driving in six runs. He went 2-for-3 at the plate. Anthony drove in runs on a double in the third and a grand slam in the fourth.
O’Brien Electric Royals captured the lead in the first inning. Jacob Gomez-Wilson singled on a 2-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run.
O’Brien Electric Royals scored six runs in the fourth inning. O’Brien Electric Royals’s big inning was driven by a single by Kaleb Feikert, a walk by Andrew Carfield, a stolen base , and a grand slam from Anthony.
Kaiden Porter earned the win for O’Brien Electric Royals. He went two innings, surrendering one run, three hits, striking out four, and walking one.
O’Brien Electric Royals tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Carfield led the way with four.
The Royals raised their record to 4-0, 3-0 in league. The Tigers fell to 1-3 league and overall.
Phillies deck Cards
The McCook Masonic Bodies Phillies exploded early against the Ruggles Angus Cardinals leading the Phillies to a 7-3 victory on Friday night.
Seven hits resulted in seven runs in the first two innings of play for the Phillies.
Doubles by Kolyn Gaston and Keynan Gaston along with singles by Alexander Messinger and Hayden Norgaard pushed the Phillies to a 4-1 lead after the first inning.
The Phillies’ loudest hit came in the second when Keynan Gaston smashed a two run homer directly over the Felling Field scoreboard in centerfield.
The Ruggles Angus Cardinals did put together a small comeback in the third inning when Gavin Losey, Kollin Werkmeister and Evan Humphrey strung together three consecutive singles resulting in two Cardinal runs.
Gaston earned the win for McCook Masonic Bodies Phillies, 2-2 in league and 2-3 overall.
