OGALALLA, Neb. — McCook’s three medalists and 328 team scores shows Bison are going in the right direction as they travel to today’s B-6 district meet.

McCook finished just four strokes behind Scottsbluff with only Sidney pulling comfortably ahead with a winning 304.

The Bison outgolfed nine other teams including Class B foes Gering (344), Ogallala (348), Holdrege (355) and Alliance (383) among others.

Coach Rick Haney offered these remarks entering today’s distreict meet at the same West Wind Golf Course.

“The Bison had a very strong day today. Three players really turned the corner with their games and began to show what quality of play they can produce.

Kade Gray placed fourth in the tough field of district teams by scoring a 75 which was excellent. Kade as a player is really showing his maturity and showing he is a player to watch as we enter the final stages of this season.

Trevor Oberg had a stellar day by carding a 80 and finishing 8th in the individual places which represented 14 varsity teams. Trevor has worked very hard the past 12 months and this commitment is beginning to show in his performances.

Hunter Hays was the third medalist for the Bison. Through hard work this season, Hunter has really began to gain control of his game. He is another that will be fun to watch as we enter the final parts of this season.

As a team we were able to finish 3rd in the team race. Sidney again proved that they are a team to watch down the stretch. Scottsbluff again has managed to field a solid team this year and finished second a few strokes ahead of the Bison.

McCook and Scottsbluff has a rich history recently of going head to head with both programs being tow of the most successful over the past ten years. It is always fun to compete with the as the Bearcats are an old rival.”
