Longhorns stampede through Mitchell for C-11 sweep

ase County athletes combined for more than 300 points while sweeping the team titles at Thursday’s C-11 district-track field meet.

The Chase girls showed again why they have a great chance to repeat as Class C state champs this weekend in Omaha.

They topped 200 points with numerous Longhorns delivering career-best efforts during this huge state-qualifying meet.

Chase County featured a champion whether it was dashes, distance running, throws, jumps or pole vault.

The Chase boys had a stronger challenge during C-11 boys competition, yet they still prevailed by 13 points over host Mitchell. A rundown of all top placers can be seen today at both left and right.

Dundy County-Stratton’s girls earned a top three team finish with senior 100-dash champ Aubrey Frederick among those reaching state.

Junior Phalen Sanford won three district events to lead the Tiger boys. Sanford took first in the 110-meter hurdles, 300-hurdles and pole vault. A complete list of area qualifiers is below.
