MCC woman earns all-region honors on defense
McCOOK, Neb. -- McCook Community Collegesophomore Kaylea Watson has been selected as a member of the Region IX South All-Region Team as well as earning a spot on the All-Region IX South Defensive Team for the 2016-2017 season.
Watson, from Arapahoe, averaged 12 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists this season, as well as getting 43 steals on the defensive side of the ball. In 14 Region IX South games, Watson scored in double figures in 11 of those games, with her season high of 30 points coming against Eastern Wyoming College on January 6, 2017.
"Kaylea has had a tremendous season for us this season." Head Coach Kellen Fernetti said. "Early on, it took a few games for her to get her offensive rhythm going and take shots for us, but after the first few games she elevated her offense to a high level. She has been counted on to take on many roles and responsibilities for this team, and for her to receive these awards."
