McCook alum wins Big 12 championship

AMES, Iowa -- McCook Bison alum and Oklahoma State University sophomore Molly Sughroue raced to a Big 12 Conference indoor championship in the mile run on Saturday.

"It was not a great time, but it was one of the best races I have ever ran tactically," Sughroue explained as she passed the race leader with only about 150 yards remaining.

Sughroue estimated her time at about 4:47.7, but more details and official results will appear later this week.

Sughroue, a redshirt sophomore, also ran the opening leg on OSU's champion women's medley relay Friday evening.

She ran the 3K later on Saturday after winning her mile title.

"But I ran out of gas," she admitted.
