Bison swimmers start state meet

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Divers Taylor Ford, Syd Wier and Victoria Norgaard have started McCook's Nebraska State Swim Meet competiton this morning at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Girls' swim competition starts at 9 a.m. on Friday with a Bison record-setter Shayne Coleman leading two terrific relays.

The 400-meter freestyle relay and 200-meter relays both broke school records during this 2017 season.

Boys' competiton then begins at 2 p.m. on Friday. All swimmers will be trying their best to qualify for Saturday's state championship races.

Those finals are set for 11 a.m. start in the Devaney Center pool.

Reaching the finals and perhaps bringing home medals would be another super achievement for McCook swimming this season.

The state meet is filled with top swimmers from Omaha and Lincoln metro schools that McCook will get a chance to compete against this weekend.

State competition concludes Saturday.
