Oakley ruins night for Red Devils
OBERLIN, Kan. -- Freshman Alyssa Van Vleet's 13 points highlighted a 44-29 defeat for the Decatur Community Red Devils against visiting Oakley, Kan., Monday evening.
Anna Carter -- another freshman -- added eight points for the young squad which dropped to 1-13 this season.
The visiting Oakley girls took a 16-6 lead and led throughout this contest.
Carter (nine rebounds) and Van Vleet (eight) were also the Red Devils' best rebounders.
Junior Faith Meitl added six rebounds.
Other Decatur players hitting shots were sophomore Clayton Carter (four points), Meitl (two) and freshman Erin May (two points).
Oakley also won the boys' contest on Monday, 50-32.
No individual stats were obtained. The Red Devil boys slipped to 2-12 this season.
