St. Patrick School plans Catholic Schools Week events

McCOOK, Neb. -- St. Patrick Elementary School in McCook kicks off Catholic Schools Week 2017 this week with a variety of activities. Each day still begins with Mass, but the week includes special lunches, dressing up and celebrating the Catholic faith through the rosary, confessions, and trivia games.

Many of the activities are open to parents and friends and the "visitor lunch" on Thursday does require a RSVP by Monday, Jan. 30.

The schedule includes:

Monday, Jan. 30: Math Mad Minute Program and Reading Program; fund-drive for new playground equipment; prayer memorization party; religion trivia; and teacher/parent vs student basketball game. Dress-up: "Cheering for Catholic Schools Week," wear items of favorite teams

Tuesday, Jan. 31: Living rosary, 10 a.m., visitors welcome; Benediction, 2 p.m.; Big Brother/Big Sister activities. Dress-up: "Plaid it's Catholic Schools Week," wear plaid

Wednesday, Feb. 1: Pastries for Parents, following 8 a.m. Mass; Big Brother/Big Sister lunch. Dress-up: "Hat's off to Catholic Schools Week," wear silly hat

Thursday, Feb. 2: Visitor Day with hot lunch, must RVSP by today (Monday, Jan. 30); home basketball game vs. Hitchcock County, 2 p.m. Dress-up: "We've got spirit for St. Patrick School," wear green and white

Friday, Feb. 3: No school for students.
