Probation violations net jail time for second year

McCOOK, Neb. -- A McCook woman received jail time for the second year in a row last week stemming from probation violations in a felony bad check writing conviction. The woman, 23-year-old Hollie M. Quitt of 1404 West 15th Street, was sentenced to 180 days in jail with credit for 106 days already served during a Dec. 5, 2016, hearing in Red Willow County District Court.
Quitt was similarly sentenced to additional probation and 60 days in jail, with credit for 62 days already served, during a Dec. 9, 2015, sentencing hearing.
According to court documents, both jail sentences stem from Quitt violating a 30 month probation sentence she received in September of 2014 after being convicted on a Class 3 felony offense for issuing nearly $2,000 in bad checks. Quitt was also ordered to pay $1,907 in restitution at the time.
During a 60-day period beginning in December of 2011, Quitt issued just shy of $2,000 in bad checks to seven McCook businesses, with two checks in excess of $500 and one for $492.
Quitt's most recent probation violations stem from her failing to report to her probation officer while residing in Kansas. Her 2015 probation violations stemmed from her absconding the area without permission and providing invalid contact information to her probation officer.
