OBERLIN, Kan. -- Gary L. Anthony, 76, of Norcatur, Kan.. died Monday (Sept. 19, 2016), at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kan.

He was born April 23, 1940, in rural Lyle, Kan. to George and Ruth (Brunk) Anthony. He graduated from Norcatur High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army.

He married Cathy Bass on Sept. 23, 2000 in Norcatur. He lived on a farm near Lyle and later moved to Norcatur. He was retired from the Kansas Department of Transportation.

He was a member of Lyle Methodist Church and the American Legion Post in Lebanon, Neb.

He was preceded in death by parents, George and Ruth (Brunk) Anthony; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Jan Anthony and Dale and Faye Anthony; and step son-in-law, Chris Kuhlman.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Anthony of Norcatur; step-children, Fredrick (Shelli) Farr of Ohio, Windy Kuhlman of Oberlin, Minnie Dawn (Jim), Purdy of California, Kimberly, Diane, Christopher, Lisa and Lori; brother, Keith Anthony of Atwood and four step-grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Hiome in Oberlin with Dwayne Jackson officiating. Interment is ar the Norcatur Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Norcatur Cemetery Fund or the Norcatur Citizens Alliance.
