Orleans Applefest set for Saturday Oct. 1
ORLEANS, Neb. -- The Orleans Chamber of Commerce plans the 32nd annual "Orleans Applesfest" on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., on the Harlan County Fairgrounds in Orleans.
The celebration schedule includes craft shows, kids games, the noon meal, hay rack rides, tours of the Harlan County Museum and blacksmith shop, and apples and cider for sale.
Highlighting the event will be a 2 p.m. presentation and book signing by Kansas author Robert Day in the Harlan County Ag Center.
Day's "Last Cattle Drive" was a Book-of-the-Month Club selection. Day is a professor at Washburn University and has worked for the Washington Post. The C. B. Preston Memorial Library located in Orleans will host Day throughout Applefest.
