OBERLIN, Kan. -- Leona G. Helmkamp, 92, died Wednesday (Nov. 25, 2015), at Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin.

She was born Sept. 28, 1923, in Smithfield, Nebraska, to Seibert and Louise (Myers) Naumann. She graduated from Smithfield High School in 1941. She married Frederick Helmkamp on Aug. 24, 1952, in Lexington, Nebraska. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Frederick in 2004; parents; infant daughter, Susanne; brothers, William and Walter Naumann; and sisters, Hylda Hathway, Bertha Stubbendieck, Elfrieda Moran, Gertrude Naumann, Elsie Lundberg, Louise Carstens and Edith Warren.

Survivors include children, Julie (Chris) Gardiner of Salina, Kansas, and Lori (Joe) Brewer of Limon, Colorado; and four grandchildren.

Services are Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Shelly Holle officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Monday after 8 a.m., at the church. Online condolences may be left at www.paulsfh.com.
