Veterans' fundraiser

A McCook, Nebraska man will portray a homeless U.S. veteran all day on Wednesday -- Veterans Day -- at the front door of Schmick's Market in Westview Plaza, to raise awareness of American veterans struggling with financial challenges. The man, a U.S. veteran himself, will accept donations to help McCook-area veterans with immediate needs such as travel to VA hospitals, propane and utility bills, rent payments, medical needs, food and other basic needs. The funds collected will be administered by VFW Post No. 1652 of McCook and Barb Ostrum of the McCook office of Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska.
