Lloyd Vernon Myers
McCOOK, Neb. -- Lloyd Vernon Myers, age 89, passed away Sunday (Sept. 13, 2015) at his home in McCook.
Lloyd was born Jan. 2, 1926 to Louis and Bertha May (Rhoad) Myers in McCook.
On October 25, 1942, Lloyd married Violet L. Ruzicka in Oberlin, Kansas.
Lloyd worked in the Red Willow County Sheriff's Department from 1955 to 1963. He then began working for the McCook Police Department until his retirement in 1986. Following his retirement, he returned to the Sheriff's Department.
He enjoyed traveling, taking cruises especially. He loved his dogs and liked watching the television show, Cops.
Lloyd was a member of the Shriners, the Masonic Lodge #135, Eureka Chapter 86 OES, New York Rite and the Police Officer Association of Nebraska. He was a charter member of the McCook Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie # 2769.
Survivors include his son, Roger (Kathy Swain) Myers of North Platte; daughter, Susan (Ken) Wells of McCook; daughter-in-law, Vicky Myers of North Platte; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Violet; sons, Richard and Ron Myers; brothers, Harold, Loren and Clifford Myers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, from 1-8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Mike Roth officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name to the McCook Humane Society, 100 South St. McCook, NE 69001.
