Surprisingly, weddings are on my mind this week so I thought we would take a look at weddings from over a century ago. If you find one of your relatives that was married in Red Willow County on this list and wish to have a copy of the marriage application, SWNGS has most of the original certificates in their library.
1895 --McCook Times-Democrat: Miss Rose L. Lee and C. W. Barnes, both of McCook, were married at the residence of the Bride's brother, Joe Lee, in this city. (January 1895)
Miss Nellie Stockton and A. C. Ebert were married at the home of the bride in Kansas City, Missouri. The groom is one of the best known young men of this place, coming to McCook when it first started, and has been identified with the Citizens Bank of McCook in different capacities since its incorporation. (March 1895)
Charlie Lofton and Rebecca Relph of Gerver were married on Sunday by Rev. Swartswood at the bride's parent, Wm. Relph's home. (March 1895)
Miss Mary Kessler of Indianola and Charles F. Lehn were married at the Catholic Church in Indianola by Rev. Father Sproll. The young man has been head clerk in Menard's store in this city for several years. (March 1895)
Elmer Fowler and Miss Annie Dodds, both of Danbury precinct, were married at Indianola, Judge Beck officiating. (May 1895)
1900 McCook Republican: Cards are out for the wedding of Miss May Faith of Chester to Rev J.A. Badcon, pastor of the M.E. Church at McCook. The wedding is to take place January 3, 1900 in Chester, Nebraska. (January 1900)
Wednesday noon a very pretty and pleasant wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stillman, just east of this town, when their daughter, Miss Minnie, was married to John J. McCoy of Quick, Frontier County. (November 1900)
Miss Lillian M. Welborn, county superintendent, and Dr. W. D. Mackecknie were married at the home of the bride's parents Monday evening. The groom is a young physician who has been quite successful for the length of time he has been in practice. (November 1900)
Frank H. Horton and Miss Lizzie Fletcher, both of Lebanon, were united in marriage by Rev. Miles at the Presbyterian parsonage. Mr. Horton has been engaged in the barber business here for several years. (December 1900)
1905 McCook Republican: Miss Mabel Whitaker of McCook and Oliver Colling of Indianola were united in marriage at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. F. L. Hendershot in East McCook, Sunday afternoon. They will live in Indianola. (February 1905)
Married at the home of the bride's parents in this city, Sunday, May 7th, were George Henderson and Miss Kate Newland. Mr. and Mrs. Henderson left for Culbertson Monday evening where they will have charge of the Creamery station. (May 1905)
Charlie C. Byfield, of this place and Susie C. Wallace of Indianola were made man and wife at the summer home of Rev. Geo. A. Conrad, Wednesday evening. The groom is the mail carrier on McCook Rural Route No. 1 and the bride one of Red Willow county's popular teachers. (July 1905)
