Radio station seeks nominations

GOODLAND, Kan. -- This Summer KGCR Radio is hoping to focus attention on the gems found in the tri-state area.

"We will be encouraging people to take day trips to tourist destinations right here in our own back yard through our Seven Wonders of the Tri-State Area competition," says Station Manager James Claassen.

The nomination period will run through July 12th. Area residents* will be able to nominate as many sites as they would like throughout their community for the seven wonders competition.

The sites nominated will then be voted on between July 13 and 31 and the sites receiving the most votes will receive the designation as one of the seven wonders of the area.

The only two requirements are that the site be not-for-profit and be within the KGCR listening area of Northwest Kansas, Eastern Colorado, and Southwest Nebraska.

"Sites may be nominated at the KGCR web site, www.kgcr.org," says Claassen. A complete listing of sites already nominated is also available on the same page.

Each site selected as one of the area's seven wonders will receive a certificate commemorating their accomplish.
