CAMBRIDGE, Neb. -- Paul Orville Ellis, age 74, of Cambridge died at his home on Thursday (Dec. 11, 2014). He was born in Cambridge on March 24, 1940, to Orville and Pearl (Roberts) Ellis.

Paul graduated from Cambridge High School in 1958.He then attended and graduated from Kearney State College in 1962, later attending the University of Nebraska Pharmacy College and graduating in 1965.

Paul was married to Shirley Thurow and to this union three children were born: Sherry, Craig and Dan.

Paul was an entrepreneur. He opened a pharmacy in Aurora, Nebraska, in 1965, later ones in Kearney and Lincoln. He was also involved in a retail Ben Franklin/Hallmark card and gift store in Hastings. Paul owned several dry cleaning businesses in Oklahoma.

Paul lived in a Aurora until 1988 when he moved to Cambridge to care for his aging father. Paul continued to live in Cambridge the remainder of his life. He was active in the Rotary International Club. He was an avid Cambridge Trojan fan and "Big Red" follower.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Dr. Kenneth Ellis and Dale Ellis.

He is survived by his three children, Sherry and husband Jeff Porterfield of Bellingham, Washington, Craig and wife Rebecca Ellis of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Dan Ellis of Portland, Oregon; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ellis of Kearney, Nebraska; nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in McCook, Neb., with Pastor Bruce Lester and Rev. Johnny Walker. Interment will be at noon in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.

Visitation will be Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary. Memorials may be left in Paul's name to the Cambridge Senior Center.
