'Junktoberfest" success
Shoppers crowd into "Soulful Salvage" as they did in other booths during Courtney Pollmann's second annual "Junktoberfest: Vintage and Artisan Market" on the fairgrounds in McCook, Nebraska, Saturday and Sunday. "It was fabulous," Courtney said. "Beautiful weather, wonderful crowds and happy vendors. One vendor was just blown away by the crowds ... at least one vendor went home with an empty trailer." Many restocked their booths after Saturday's shopping, preparing to tempt shoppers again Sunday. Courtney said she noticed shoppers seemed to be buying an equal mix of finished products and supplies for their own projects. Debra Petsch, left, and her sister, Brenda Peters, both of McCook, shopped for one-of-a-kind watches, while Kara Haselhorst of Oberlin, Kansas, purchased wreathes made of yucca plants. Courtney was excited about the success of this year's market -- 60 vendors and about 2,000 shoppers -- and plans her third annual "Junktoberfest" for October 2015.
