College board sets budget
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- The Mid-Plains Community College board of governors approved a $42 million budget Wednesday following a public hearing in North Platte.
The board voted unanimously to use $13.5 million in property taxes toward the budget, which will be generated by a levy of 8.2 cents per each $100 of assessed value, a decrease of 0.4455 cents from the previous budget.
The overall levy includes 6.5 cents for general operations, down from 7.1955; 1.5 cents for capital improvements, up from 1.2500, and .2 cents, unchanced, for ADA/Hazmat abatement.
The board took action to carry forward unused budget authority of $2.6 million, which allows the college to receive additional state aid if needed.
Upcoming meetings include a comunity input session from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the McCook Student Union on Wednesday, Oct. 8, followed by a regular board meeting in McMillen Hall Toom 213.
