Legislative Forum Aug. 26
McCOOK, Neb. -- The Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in cooperation with local chambers of commerce across the state, is preparing for its annual legislative forums. In total, State Chamber staff will visit 29 communities this fall.
In McCook, the Chamber's forum will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Weeth Theater in Tipton Hall on the MCC campus beginning at 7:30 a.m.
This year's State Chamber presentation will include a look at:
* Key business-related bills in the 2014 session of the Nebraska Legislature;
* Important issues awaiting the legislature in 2015;
* The latest state rankings in areas important to the business community; and
* Nebraska's workforce challenges.
For more than 30 years, the State Chamber has conducted these hour-long legislative forums to gather input from the business community on issues of concern, while providing a review of recent legislation considered by the Nebraska Legislature.
All local chamber of commerce members, as well as members of the news media, are encouraged to attend. Elected leaders are also invited.
State Chamber President Barry Kennedy said: "Job creation and workforce issues, along with the economy and government regulation, continue to be the most pressing issues facing most Nebraska communities. These legislative forums will give local leaders more insight into the factors helping and hurting our state's economic climate and growth potential."
Chamber Members are reminded to RSVP by Thursday, August 21 to the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce, 345-3200.
