Commissioners award gravel bids

McCOOK, Neb. -- Red Willow County, Nebraska, commissioners awarded gravel bids during their weekly meeting Monday morning.

The county's 20 precincts were divided between just two gravel companies that submitted bids. "Two good companies," one representative pointed out with a grin.

Prices quoted to commissioners go into effect July 1.

These were the bids accepted by commissioners:

E.I.A. LLC -- Danbury precinct, $8.35 per ton; Gerver, $8.21; Grant, $7.98; Valley Grange, $7.57; Driftwood, $7.43; Perry, $7.39; and Coleman, $7.59.

Paulsen Construction: Lebanon precinct, $9.52 per ton; Beaver, $8.97; Tyrone, $8.80; Missouri Ridge, $8.41; Bondville, $8.25; East Valley, $8.21; Indianola, $8.00; Red Willow, $8.00; Willow Grove, $8.25; North Valley, $8.55; Alliance, $8.00; Fritsch, $8.60; and Box Elder, $8.63.

Commissioners accepted both F.O.B. prices: E.I.A, $6.50, and Paulsen, $6.10.

Commission chairman Vesta Dack thanked Steve Barenberg of E.I.A. and Chris Hunke of Paulsen more appearing in person at the bid letting.
