Donations, resignations for school board agenda
McCOOK, Neb. -- More than $50,000 will be donated to the McCook School District by the McCook Bison Booster Club, to replace bleachers at the high school.
The McCook School board will also be asked to approve a $10,000 donation for playground improvements at McCook Elementary, at the regular meeting Monday, 6:30 p.m. at the junior high conference room.
The donation for the playground upgrades comes from Elementary Connection, part of McCook Elementary PTO organization.
The board will also be asked to approve two resignations, two teaching contracts and a 10-cent increase in school lunch prices.
Superintendent Grant Norgaard gave the board a heads-up at the May school board meeting concerning the school lunch increase. Increases have been done incrementally in the school district over the past three years, to come into line with the federal reimbursement rate.
This third increase, effective the 2014-15 school year, has school lunches $2.20 at McCook Elementary, $2.30 at Central Elementary and $2.45 at the junior/senior high.
Resignations the board will be asked to approve come from Tori Peters, who was hired by the board in March to teach science at the junior high for the 2014-15 school year and Scott Mollring, who taught Social Studies half time and physical education half time at the high school.
In their resignation letters, Peters said that she preferred to remain at the Omaha magnet school where she has been teaching and Mollring said he has accepted a position with North Platte Public Schools.
Teaching contracts the board will be asked to approve are for Renee Foelich of Sugarland, Texas, for junior high language arts and for Justin Berhnhardt of Billings, Montana, for social studies/physical education, both half time positions.
