Car dealership is longtime dream for new operator of Hauxwell Motors

McCOOK, Nebraska -- From the moment he took a job selling cars ten years ago, Joel Hauxwell dreamed of having his own car lot.

"I've always liked cars and when I started selling and trading cars and trucks in the early 2000's I knew this was the place for me," Joel said as he began his second month as the operator of Hauxwell Motors at 619 West B Street in McCook.

The car lot is readily recognizable. It's the same place that Larry "Red" Bass was in business for more than 30 years as LB Motors. Only the name and the man in charge have changed.

"Larry was very successful and built a solid reputation for sales and service," Joel said. "We are dedicated to doing the same, at Hauxwell Motors, in the years to come."

Helping Joel accomplish this will be Charlie Kuhlman, who was Red's right hand man for the past 33 years, and will continue in the same role with Joel and Hauxwell Motors.

From the start as the operator of his own business, Joel is dedicated to doing business with honesty and integrity. "Having grown up in a large family in this area, I learned early on that there's only one way to do business and that's with truth and fairness. That's what LB Motors did and that's what we will do at Hauxwell Motors. When customers buy, sell or trade with Hauxwell Motors, they can count on getting a fair deal on road ready vehicles," Hauxwell said.

Joel is a 2000 graduate of Republican Valley High School. He and his wife, Tori, are the parents of three children: Neleigh, 12; Jayce, 6; and Sterling, 3. A life-long resident of this area, Joel is one of the four children of Neal and Margie Hauxwell. His brothers and sisters are Troy Hauxwell, Jason Hauxwell, Heather Collicott and Joel's twin, Lori Rousselle.

Before going out on his own in the car business, Joel worked for the past ten years at Wagner Ford, Wagner Chevrolet, Plains Equipment Group and Hauxwell Motors. "The experience I gained was invaluable," Joel said. "I am fortunate that the opportunity to operate my own dealership became a reality."

Hauxwell Motors is located on the north side of the 600 block of B street across from the Chief Motel. The hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
