McCOOK, Nebraska -- A public hearing is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, to outline a six-year proposed program of new construction of roads and/or streets. Highway user taxes are collected by the state and allocated to the various street and road building subdivisions of the state by a prescribed formula.
The various subdivisions must submit a six-year plan of proposed new construction and institute cost accounting procedures for computing the cost of operation and machinery and equipment. Local subdivisions must provide local sources for one-half of the state highway user allocation to receive the full allocation.
