Lincoln, Grand Island TV stations to spotlight McCook
LINCOLN, Nebraska -- Television cameras will focus the spotlight on McCook during a series of segments to be shown on Lincoln and Grand Island stations KOLN TV, KGIN TV and KSNB TV during February and March.
Two of the television stations' news and weather on-air personalities, Jon Vanderford and Brad Anderson, came to McCook Saturday, Jan. 25, to film the segments for the "Pure Nebraska" series.
Guided by Carol Schlegel, director of McCook-Red Willow Tourism, the television tandem filmed footage for showing at the following times:
* The Chicken Dance Tours at the Angus Garey Farm -- Feb. 11, 6:30 p.m., KSNB TV, and February 16, 7:30 p.m., KOLN-KGIN TV;
* Coffee Time Conversations at Sehnert's Bakery and Political Talk about Governors and Senators from McCook at the High Plains Museum -- Feb. 25, 6:30 p.m., KSNB TV, and March 2, 7:30 p.m., KOLN-KGIN TV;
* Frank Lloyd Wright designed home, Live at the Bieroc discussion, Rich Barnett and Coaches Coffee Club, Our Town McCook, and "Why McCook Is the Hot Spot" -- March 25, 6:30 p.m. KSNB TV, and March 30, 7:30 a.m., KOLN-KGIN TV.
Schlegel advises readers to clip and save this article to refresh their minds about the times of the showings. "Mr. Vanderford and Mr. Anderson devoted a full day of filming some of the many things McCook area has to offer," she said. "The TV segments will be a real plus for McCook and Red Willow County because the KOLN, KGIN and KSNB television stations have tens of thousands of viewers in a multi-state region."
A number of McCookites, including Angus Garey, Walt Sehnert, Dale Dueland, Matt Sehnert, Rich Barnett, John Hubert, Tom Vickers, Gene O. Morris and Van and Jan Korell helped Schlegel arrange the video highlights for the TV showings.
All the McCook stories will be online at 1011now.com on the first Tuesday of the airing. Those interested in the online postings should go to 1011now.com, click on news, then Pure Nebraska to find the video player to watch the videos.
