Buffalo Commons planning next year's storytelling festival

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The Buffalo Commons Storytelling Festival planning committee is once more in motion preparing for the 2014 Storytelling Festival, June 13-14, 2014.

As in years past, the committee will host monthly planning Huddles followed by their First Tuesday storytelling opportunities. Each month, October through May, will feature a different topic for seasoned and beginning storytellers alike. All are welcome to come to the Bieroc Café at 7 p.m. to participate or just to listen.

The series will open on Tuesday, Oct. 1, when college stories will be hosted by Sharon Kircher, Area Program Manager for the Center for Enterprise on the MCC campus.

As an additional highlight members of the Southwest Nebraska Community Theater Association will be on hand to present a scene from their upcoming production of "Steel Magnolias" which will be on the Fox stage Oct. 18-20.

Topics announced for the 2013-14 year include:

Nov. 5 rodeo / cowboy / cowgirl stories

Dec. 3 drama / acting / theater stories

Jan. 7 shopping stories

Feb. 4 wedding stories

March 4 a joke night including prank stories

April 1 4th graders tell fables, folklore and fairy tales

May 6 sing-along concert with Peter, Chuck and Job.
