Dakota Hutchins of Culbertson, Nebraska, competes in the Coyote Country Music Showdown talent contest Wednesday night at the Kiplinger Arena, as the Red Willow County Fair officially gets under way. First place winner was Stacey Armijo, second place was the band, "Pet Peeve" and third, Melody Jones and Alex Roe. The winners will go on to compete at the Galaxy of Stars competition at the Nebraska State Fair. Visitors to the fair not only enjoyed the talent show, but also exhibits in the open class competition at the Community Building, 4-H projects and animals and carnival rides, like the "Hurricane." Tonight is the karaoke contest for youth ages 12 and under at the Midway stage (the contest for teens is Friday and for adults, Saturday) and stock car races at 7:30 p.m.

  • Shouldn't it be the Kiplinger Arena instead of Area and the competition at the State Fair the Galaxy of Stars not starts?
