Police: Airport package would not have exploded

Monday, April 22, 2013

McCOOK, Nebraska -- A suspicious package that was reported at the McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport Thursday, and subsequently responsible for shutting the airport down for several hours, was determined to be a hoax device. According to McCook Chief of Police Isaac Brown the device was intended to look like a bomb and create panic, but would not have exploded.

Brown said McCook investigators were being assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the case and had identified persons of interest.
