McCOOK, Nebraska -- Brenda Peters, McCook Community College library technician, has been named the first recipient on campus to receive the "You-Rock" award given to Mid-Plains Community College employees exhibiting exemplary internal customer service.

"I have only worked with Brenda for just over a year, and in that time, I have been absolutely astonished with her work ethic and attendance, as well as with her desire and ability to help any patron; faculty, staff, student or community member," said Tina Walker, Area Director for Learning Resources for Mid-Plains Community College, who nominated Brenda for the award.

"Brenda always works to find a solution to a patron's problem regardless of whether or not it is library related. She never just simply says, 'sorry I can't help you.' She will reach out to other staff and departments to help patrons find answers and meet their needs. She cares about what our patrons want and need and works hard every day to meet these."

Walker said she can count on Brenda to be at work every day and never have to worry about the library getting opened and running smoothly in her absence.

"This is a trait that is often overlooked, but as the supervisor, it is one of the most important qualities of an employee," Walker said.

Brenda gets to display the Rock for the next month at which time MPCC's Internal Customer Service team will name the next recipient.
