McCOOK, Nebraska -- The third, and final, fall Share-a-Thon at KNGN 1360 AM is set for Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m., each day.

The KNGN board of directors has decided to limit the station's main fund raiser to a single spring Share-a-Thon, traditionally scheduled in April.

For the final fall share-a-thon, area businesses, in McCook, and the surrounding Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas communities, have been "more than generous," according to Adam Spanier, station manager.

"We have auction items from a lot of new contributors and others from longtime supporters," said Spanier. "And, Ree is bringing back her jelly basket!" Ree is Ree Smock, longtime afternoon radio announcer at the station. Spanier plans to bid on the tasty treats himself.

"Auctions will end at the close of each day's broadcast," he explained. Results will be posted online.

The theme for the share-a-thon is "In Christ alone..." taken from Hebrews 13:8.

"It's not about us," said Spanier. "Only in Christ can we have success. Only in Christ can we have victory, and only in Christ can we have a faith that saves."

Spanier has more than a dozen interviews slated for broadcast and promises stimulating conversation with a pinch of good humor. He also has tons of giveaways planned.

"You can win, win, win!" he said. "We'll have lots of games, lots of ways to win."

Ree and Adam will be joined online by the newest member of the KNGN staff, Patrick Macumber. On air volunteers include the Rev. Tom Albertson, the Rev. Brad Rick; the Rev. Derrick Brown; the Rev. David Kahle, the Rev. Greg Stuckwisch, the Rev. David Feddern, the Rev. Kevin Schnakenburg, and Judy Schow.

In keeping with share-a-thon tradition, the station hosts an unofficial open house for listeners with plenty of food set out to share. "We have food coming from Sehnert's, Mac's, Subway, Pizza Hut, Home Spun and Oz-Tex," Spanier said.

Auction items include donations from McCook National Bank, Kenny's Marine, CES, Peace Lutheran, Sears, McCook Glass, John's Repair, Video Kingdom, Wauneta Flour Mill, Coffee, Tea and Me, Goltl Home Center, Ray's Jewelry, Landmark Inn, Atwood Floral, Samway's Floor Covering, New Life Christian Books, Monica Conroy, Walker Garden Center, Bargain Center of Palisade, Rocky R of Oberlin, Cabin Antiques of Oberlin, the General Store of Atwood, and more.
