Participants complete food safety training

McCOOK and LEXINGTON, Nebraska -- Sixteen participants completed the ServSafe Starters Food Safety training workshops held recently in Lexington and McCook.

The ServSafe Starters course is designed for employees who handle and/or prepare food in restaurants and other food service establishments. It is the second level of the Nebraska Restaurant Association's Food Safety First program. The first level is the ServSafe training program for owners and managers.

Participants who completed the ServSafe Starters training were:

Yan Li Chen, Good Life Restaurant, McCook; Bob Clark, Dundy County Hospital, Benkelman; Carla Meyers, Area Senior Center, Curtis; Kristi Manley and Rose Cayer, Wauneta Crossroads, Wauneta; Deborah Walters and Pat Wagner, Hillside Perk, Culbertson; Kala Meguire, Wauneta-Palisade School, Wauneta; Nekol Straight, Bertrand School, Bertrand; Conny Yeutter, The Coffee Tree, Eustis; Penny Bartlett, Eustis-Farnam School, Eustis; Becky Pflaster, Candy Morales, Nancy Jensen, Lexington Regional Health Center, Lexington; Joni Bennett and Joy Duda, Holiday Inn Express, Lexington.

Instructors for the course were Extension Educators Mary K. Warner and Andrea Nisley. The training was sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension and the Nebraska Restaurant Association.
