McCOOK, Nebraska -- A "water run" for kids and adults alike will take place Sunday, June 17, beginning at Kelley Park.

Sponsored by the Interact Club at McCook Senior High, the kids' third-mile course will begin at 7 p.m. It will wind its way through Kelley Park and several fun water areas that include water guns and water sprinklers and conclude with a slip-n-slide.

The adult 5K course begins and ends at the lower shelter house at 7:30 p.m., with the same water areas, including a hose-down by the McCook Fire Department.

The overall male and female winner of the 5K in each division (18 and under, 19-39, 40 and up) will receive a free Road ID gift certificate and a medal. The overall girl and boy winner of the kid's course will receive a medal. The awards ceremony will be at the lower shelter house after the race is completed.

The kid's run is $10 for children 12 and under. The adult run is $25. Those who register by June 8 will receive a T-shirt and goody bag. Registration and check in on the day of the race will be at the lower shelter house at Kelley Park, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Registrations can be picked up at the YMCA and The Sports Shoppe.

All proceeds will go to The Water Project, which will purchase a well for a needy community in Africa if enough funds are raised.
