Caller promises $1.2 million, new Mercedes Benz
McCOOK, Nebraska -- Another scam attempt has been reported in McCook.
A caller, promising a lottery prize of $1.2 million and a new Mercedes Benz, has called a McCook woman twice in the past two months, offering to deliver her package of winnings in exchange for a receipt showing that she had transferred $750 to a person in Nassau, Bahamas.
"When the first call came, I simply hung up," she said. "When the second call came I thought I'd play along to see how far the caller would go to get my money."
The phone call ended when the caller promised to deliver the package the following day, right to her front door, in exchange for the receipt, but was unable to tell the woman how he would find her home to make the delivery.
"I just want people to know that the scams are still out there, and to be careful," the woman said.
