CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Dorothy Anne Jones of Cambridge, Nebraska, 78, died at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Monday (May 24, 2010).

She was born on June 10, 1931 at the home of her parents Monte C. and Jeanie Marie (Rankin) Lockenour. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and received an Associates Certificate in 1951.

She taught school in Axtell and later Cambridge for a short time.

She was hired by the City of Cambridge in 1964 at the Butler Memorial Library. She took classes from the State of Nebraska and became a certified librarian. In 1975 she was promoted to head librarian and worked for over 30 years at the library.

On June 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to Roger Jones. The couple made their home in Cambridge. She was a 60 year member of the Congregational Church. She was chairperson of many committees of the Church and belonged to the women's fellowship.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Lockenour, and Bob Lockenour; and infant sister, Carolyn.

She is survived by her husband, Roger of Cambridge; daughter, Carol and husband, Neal Carlson of Axtell, Nebraska; son, Keith Jones and wife, Christine of Omaha, Nebraska; sister Margie Petersen of Cambridge; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Cambridge with The Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials may be left in her name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary to either the Butler Memorial Library or the Congregational Church.
