John Grant 'Bear' Davis Jr.

BENKELMAN, Nebraska -- John Grant "Bear" Davis Jr., 51, died Friday (April 30, 2010) at his home in Benkelman.

He was born on May 24, 1958, on the Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois, to John G. "Dusty" Davis and Agnes Nancy Mohr- Davis.

On April 5, 1980, he married Pamela Adams.

He pastored several churches in California, Idaho and Nebraska. He worked for the Dundy County Sheriff's office.

He was a past member of the EC Powell Fly Fishers Club in California.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Elyse Davis of Benkelman and Adam Davis and wife, Mary Beth of Fort Drum, New York; three sisters, Teresa Topping, Debbie Davis and Denise Holcomb; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be Thursday, 11 a.m. (MDT), at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman. Services will conclude at the chapel. The family will gather for a private inurnment at a later date.

There will be no visitation or viewing. A memorial has been established in his name.
