A sad prediction

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

One would have lingering wars with little cost;

Another would fly swift, but wanteth wings;

A third thinks, without expense at all,

By guileful fair words peace may be obtained.

Shakespeare, Henry VI

The Fort Hood massacre has been weighing heavily on my mind. It is difficult to comprehend how an officer could willfully murder 14 of his fellow soldiers and injure scores more. No Christian human being could do such a thing. The only thing I can think is that we have a terrible sickness in our midst and it is time to recognize it for what it is. The term is Jihad and it is imperative that it be stamped out -- forever!

A fellow Vietnam veteran sees it this way: "I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when, every day, I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to." (Posted by Robert A. Hall a former Marine who served five terms in the Massachusetts State Senate.)

Another blogger writes: "From the beginning the Muslims said they were launching a holy war. They blew up the trade center. The Mujahideen and Al-Qaeda have friends everywhere claiming that anyone who is not a Muslim should be killed. When are America and the whole Western world going to wake up that we are in a religious war? The Muslims are still fighting the crusades! It's time to fight back. WITH EVERYTHING!"

The problem goes back a few years. Just after 9/11 President Bush declared a "War on Terror." Unfortunately the label was a little misleading as terror is simply a tactic in war. A better term would have been a war on "Islamo-fascism." Modern radical Islamists have created a movement on the order of Hitler's Nazism and Stalin and Chairman Mao's brand of communism where the state has absolute power. Those communist governments have failed or recently been greatly modified due mainly to unsustainable economic policy. Nazism was soundly defeated in World War II. Old Europe is nearly given over to the Muslims and it remains again for the United States to halt the cancerous spread of Islamo-fascism.

Our way of life is in imminent danger and yet I fear our likely course of action in foreign relations. I predict that President Obama, in the near future, will give the order to pull all our U.S troops out of Afghanistan. Our President will use the excuse that further military aid to Afghanistan is futile under the Hamid Karzai Government.

Yes, President Karzai is running a corrupt, politician-in-power-take-all, style of government. Karzai undoubtedly realizes that the U.S. is going to cut and run and the Taliban will move back in a take control of the government. Karzai has seen the writing on the wall. He cannot depend on continuing long-term support from the U.S. under the current administration so he is stealing what he can while he can. It is our president's intransigence that has caused Karzai to make his realistic decision.

President Obama will justify our withdrawal of troops based on the fact that the Karzai government is corrupt. Never will he mention that Karzai is suddenly corrupt, due to the messages the anti-war Obama has sent saying that there is no hope of winning what he had earlier called a just war. Yet he has consistently refused to define what a "win" in Afghanistan would mean.

With the Islamo-fascist al-Qaeda in charge, Sharia will become the law of the land. The U.S. role in the world will be further diminished. All those consequences will be brought to our homeland in the not too distant future after President Obama is long gone from office. Our future national security will become some other president's problem just as rampant inflation caused by the present administration and an escalating price tag for socialized medicine will be some other administration's task to straighten out.

It is frustrating to see irresponsible decisions being made now that will have to be paid for by our children and grandchildren's generations. Don't blame me though I voted for the American.

That is the way I saw it.

  • If you were not addressing me as the fellow Nam Vet, add a one to your friends who feel as you do.

I forwarded you a msg about how a man of Germany feels, since the similarities between Fascism, Communism, Radical Islam-ism, and others, are run by a minority, by intimidating the majority, in an attempt to subjugate the world. That e-mail espouses my feelings extremely well.

We stand a great chance of losing our Freedoms, and Way of Life, actually, World-wide, not just in the USA.

I receive messages, almost daily, from the European countries where the people are waking up to the fact that they are becoming Islamocized, by a minority, and there seems to be little they can do now to stop the collapse of their way of life.

Keep the Watch, my friend, for we must sound the alarm to all who will hear. Those who refuse to hear may well be our own worst enemy.

Way to cheapen every point you made by stooping to such ignorant drivel. Ugh. That kind of disrespectful and creepy talk is what drives free thinking people out of our region of the state. And I don't blame them for taking off at this point...

  • Timothy McVeigh claimed to be a Christian. Holy War is war and evil whether it is waged in the name of Jihad or of Christ. Remember that our grandfather put on KKK robes to persecute Catholics back in the 20s. When will we ever learn? No good thing ever comes of hate. I love you, little brother.

  • davejavu,

A year ago, just before the elections, we were treated to a barrage of evils Fmr. President George W. Bush had committed to this country and its citizens, and how the McCain/Palin ticket would even be worse. You wrote this in your editorial column in another local paper. The door swings both ways, just as you moved back, you can leave, free thinker.

Your comments, and impressions are profound and sad to say, accurate. It is troubling to see how Islam is using our nation's freedoms to further their cause.

There were several statements made by Islams on national talk shows, where they purported to worship the same God that America does. One of the biggest lies that has been coined almost as a mantra. Their religion casts Jesus as a prophet, a prophet not equal to their prophet Mohammed. Jesus as we know is THE son of God, equal to the father, not some man like Mohammed. This mantra sounds good for those that are umfamiliar with the false teaching of Islamics.

Keep the faith and know I enjoy your articles

  • If you want to see what is really going on, check out the latest on the coming of gun control. Google "H.R.45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - U.S. Congress - Open Congress"

I'm afraid we are in for a long haul with this. They are trying to sneak it in on everyone without the knowledge of the general public. Check it out for yourselves.

  • Several decades back, I knew a Jewish man who was one of the most decent, honorable human beings I have ever known.

Unfortunately, he had a son-in-law, who was one of the most deceitful, lying, thieving, worthless individuals I have ever known.

A Univ. of Nebraska Phd graduate in plant breeding revolutionized a specialized U.S. crop industry with his work back in the 60s and 70s.

He was one of the finest men I've known.

He and his family were devout Muslims, who came from Egypt, by way of Oxford Univ. in England.

At St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colorado Springs in the 1950s, Father Bernstein was youth pastor.

That's right -- Father BERNSTEIN -- born Jewish, converted -- but brought along an incredible sense of humor -- and was an awesome human being.

The PIMA SCOUTS served the U.S. Army for more than 30 years in Arizona, New Mexico and during some visits to Mexico.

After Geronimo came in at the Army's invitation and GUARANTEES honoring his truce flag for peace negotiations after 25 years -- and was seized to be shipped to Florida, in total violation of the truce-------- THE PIMA SCOUTS were stripped of their uniforms, arms and human rights. Hauled in handcuffs to the Salt River and Gila River Reservations in wagons and handed over to the BIA agents. They were held in cramped jail cells and "processed" into the tribe.

Iwo Jimo "flag raising" hero, Ira Hayes came from the Pima's Gila River Sacaton community into the Marines and returned to die, discarded and lost.

Honor is not a shirt you wear when convenient.

Religion, race, creed and nationality do not determine honor.

When the United States has propped up despots and dictators -- including Joseph Stalin, King Farouk of Egypt, Bautista of Cuba, The Somozas, Park of Korea, Huerta and Obregon of Mexico, "Poppa Doc" and "Baby Doc" in Haiti -- we degrade out honor.

When we pay an Aghan $50 to point out Taliban and he collects $1,000 by fingering 20 innocent men for GitMo -- we degrade our honor.

When we use a Panamanian dictator as a CIA asset, paying him millions at a time when we knew he was engaged in the drug trade -- We degrade our honor.

As a nation, we are not perfect, anymore than we are perfect as people.

Reality is that a small percentage of all Muslims are "true believers" in the extremist, hate-filled groups.

The Harsher Reality is that this small percentage can destroy this planet's human population.

  • Chunky Peanut Butter,

I didn't work for another local newspaper before the election last year, so I really have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I moved back here a couple days before the election and voted absentee, starting at the paper in December. Furthermore, the only comments I've ever made about McCain/Palin in my editorials have been tongue-in-cheek and I've made just as many jokes about our sitting president -- the one constantly derided on the opinion page of the Gazette, and usually from a clear misrepresentation of facts.

Your comment, however, is indicative of the brand of ridiculousness screeched at anyone who disagrees that President Obama is the anti-Christ. Columnists at the Gazette have done their best to perpetuate the myth that Obama isn't a citizen of the US and you and your ilk have done a fine job of making anyone with a difference of opinion feel like an outsider.

Whether you like it or not, there is a respectable contingent of Democrats in this area, and we contribute to the local economy just as much as you do. I think you'd better think twice before telling at least a quarter of the local population to hit the road.

I don't completely disagree with the arguments made by Mr. Trail in this column. My comment was in regards to the way he shot his credibility right in the foot by making such ignorant statements about Obama's citizenship. And Arley's statements? I don't even know where to start on that...

Peace, Chunky Peanut Butter. You'll probably find we agree on more than you think.

  • Whether or not you agree 100% with Dick's comments he does at least do something 99% of other newspaper contributors across this country are afraid to do...point out facts about Islam.

You can call yourself a free-thinker all you want. I'm a free thinker too. I am above all a Christian, a Catholic by choice, not birth. I sat in Church last week disgruntled by the Priest telling us all to disengauge from the non-Christian commmunity, to not believe 21st-century science, as it has run amuck and is telling us lies. Just put out blinders on and run back to church every week to get our marching orders.

Well, all I could think of was 16th century Catholic church throwing Galileo in prison for being a heretic by falsly "claiming" that the Earth actually revolves around the sun and that it is round, not flat.

I could not stop thinking about the church selling indulgences and the rich Pope and all the poor peasants in the Catholic world at that time. The sins that led to the Prodestant Reformation.

I am a free thinker, athiest turned devout Christian. Democrat turned conservative. One who believed the Muslim community was largely for peace after 9/11 and thought only "bad" Muslims were after us.

Then I started doing religious research after this "holy war" kept raging on all over the world and noticed a lack of cooperation between the U.S. and "good" Muslims when dealing with this "holy war," and what's going on in the Middle East.

Here's what I have come to know about Islam:

    1. Islam means "submission"

    2. All Muslims believe the entire world will submit to Islam eventually.

    3. Mohammed failed at his 1st attempt to organize a new religion and was run out of town. He came back later with a new religion and some followers and killed everyone who stood in his way, leading him to believe he was devine as he was victorious against a much larger army.

    4. Mohammed could not read or write and claimed that every word of the Qur'an was given to him by an angel sent from Allah and he was to momorize it.

    5. The Qur'an allows Muslims to kill as long as it is to advance Islam.

    6. It allows for lying as long as it is to advance Islam.

    7. It encourages Muslims to make treaties when they are weak , so that they may strike the infadel when they are stronger.

    8. It allows for the mistreating of women and children. At one time it was allowed for men to sodomize young boys, it is still not banned, but looked down on in public now. It's a don;t ask, don't tell thing.

    9. 100 years after Mohammed's death, his followers had "conquered" all of Persia, northern Africa, and parts of Europe with thier advanced military technolgy...the stirup. This allowed them greater control to fight with swords while mounted, being able to kill in great numbers.

When you look into the Qur'an and the Haditha, you realize that this entire religion was born and spread in a bloodbath. In the first 200 years the Muslims murdered millions throughout that region.

One thing that becomes clear in studying this. Can you really trust a Muslim? Is he lying or making treaties until he is stronger than you?

It is said by experts that for a civilization to sustain itself, it must have a fertility rate of at least 2.1 children per couple. In the UK that rate is 1.4, all of Europe it is 1.32. In the US it is 1.6. The population of the UK is not declining though. It is increasing due to Muslim immigration. The US is increasing due to illegal immigration, not our own sustianing population.

The world average for Muslim families is 8.1 per couple. staggering to say the least. They say that by 2050 France will be a Muslim nation much like Iran and Iraq.

Don't tell me that these attitudes are what's driving young people to the cities, that's a crock. The lure of higher wages and more crap to spend their money is what is driving them to the cities. You can have your cities. You free thinkers in the cities that don't know where your wages come from, or where the food you eat comes from. You think you're saving the planet with your green movement but the simple fact that you live in a big city means you are a polluter whether you want to be or not. Cities are sucking up all the electricity and producing all the pollution.

Why would I listen to someone tell me about the environment that doesn't even know where a steak comes from? Urban ignorance. If you want to save the planet, move out of the city, live off the land, and ride your bike to around town.

It has been researched, and the findings are interesting. If we as a population must truly save the planet someday, we will have to conserve to start off with. We will have to move out of the cities and become more local. More local markets, smaller towns will need to become more sustainable. Less internet sales, less global commerce. Less consumerism, and more localism. Less travel, mush less travel. More time spent with fanily and less time chasing the dollar.

Basically turning back the clock to 1940-1950. rural living is sustainable, urban living is not. I think that's the whole point. If there is going to be change someday, it will not be the change Al Gore is pushing. It will be a fundamental shift in how we live. Al Gore will not be able to make a profit on that.

We're going to have to realize someday that we can't have our cake and eat it too. If the planet does need saving, and that's debatable unless you are an ignorant pleab, we'll all have to make sacrifices and become less consumeristic.

And NO, Christians aren't perfect. Yes, there have been crazies do horrible things in the name of Christ. However, our Bible does NOT allow for any of this, nor does it call for it. The teachings of Jesus are easy to understand and simple. It boils down to peace in your heart and love for your God. treat others as you would be treated and blessed are the weak, the downtrodden, the oppressed, the sick, and the lost.

No where does it say to lie, kill, oppress, or impose. The only blood shed during the spread of Chistianity was that of the Christians through persecution.

  • I, too, am a Christian and very involved in my local congregation, thank you. As IF that has anything to do with a political conversation. The fact that some of you have ill will toward other people, supposedly in the name of Christ, seems to be at odds with His teachings.

Justin, I know you, and I am glad that you chose to think for yourself regarding your priest's suggestion to avoid the non-Christian community. As Christians, it is our job to bring all of Christ's children back to his loving embrace. To shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, befriend the lepers, care for the sick, comfort the down-trodden, etc... We don't get to pick and choose when we do God's work just because we don't agree with our president or senators.

I was shocked and offended by Dick Trail's comment about voting for the American because the myth about Obama being born outside the US has been officially debunked. Over and over. To the point where trotting out that tired argument is absolutely bat-guano crazy, not to mention VERY desperate.

And while we're getting facts straight, John McCain was born in Panama and President Obama in Hawaii. While it's safe to assume Mr. Trail did not cast his vote for Obama, I would never stoop low enough to insinuate that Sen. McCain isn't an American.

It is a scary world we live in. With so many enemies abroad, it's sad that rhetoric like Mr. Trail's continues to divide us and perpetuate hate between different political factions at home.

Peace to all of you. I think if we all live by the Golden Rule we should be just fine -- no matter what those in office foist upon us. Let's concentrate on that, shall we?

  • Yes, I wish so much that ignorant people would give up the birther crap. It's a little rediculous that it keeps coming up when I'm sure with all the big power and money out there someone wouldn't have been able to get the truth. I'm sure the truth is out and we need to get over it.

I think that at some point religion does have to enter the political spectrum because we are already dealing with so many Muslim nations and that will be on the rise over the next 50 years. At some point it may be the U.S. and Australia as the only non-Muslim led countries. And Muslim nations are religion-based. There is no seperation. Not saying we should end our seperation, but I think at some point down the road, this nation is going to need to stand as one and make a spiritual stand against evil.

Our political correctness is getting is into way more trouble than good. It is impossible to finger a possible bad guy these days unless he is a white Christian male. Otherwise you are in deep dodo for discimination.

What I hate most of all in this scary new world is not being able to trust your fellow man. no matter what nationality, color, or race. I wish I could trust everyone. I do love everyone in my heart because God loves them and Jesus died for them. I may disagree with them or not like to see their greedy faces on TV, but I love all people and would do anything for them.

The problem is, once you dive into the Qur'an and the Haditha, you realize that we as Christians or anthiests may be in trouble some day in this country. We already are in trouble. Since our God teaches peace we cannot go to war with these people. By their law, they are supposed to make war with us. I think the ones that don't are the ones who are listening to their inner spirit and they know it's wrong to kill. Some of them I think are afraid of their fellow Muslim.

And fredd, the Crusades were largely in part to protect Christians from Muslim slaughter in the Middle East after 400 years of Muslim conquest and murder.

In the first 100 years ofter the death of the prophet Mohammed, the Muslims conquered all of northern Africa, the Middle East, Portugal, and Spain. This includes the birthplace of Christ, the area of the begining of the Christian movement, the site of his death, and ressurection. They DID NOT take over this area and the people by conversion. They did it by slaughter and shear force. They had superior military tactics with the stirup, and they could fight on horseback and kill many men.

Christians did not wage war to spread Christianity. There is not anywhere in history where Christains by and large killed anyone in the name of spreading their religion. In fact, history is chalk full of the dead bodies of Christians who were killed for their beliefs by the Romans and Muslims. Pick up a history book sometime and join in a conversation with som intel one of these days fredd!

Don't forget, Islam is not after Christians alone, they are after ALL infadels, and that includes the God/Jesus bashers. So don't assume that will help you in this impending holy war down the road. I'm just trying to help you in this life and the next!
