MCC women's basketball signs Lauren Woods

Jon Buhlmann Lauren Woods signed a letter of intent to play for the McCook Community College women's basketball team. Woods, a 5-foot-10 forward, hails from Kersey, Colo. She was a Colorado Class 3A All-State performer for Eaton High School. The Reds posted a 23-4 record. Woods averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2.2 steals, 2 assists and 1.6 blocks a game. "Lauren has a proven track record on and off the court," said MCC coach Benjamin Smith. "She is an outstanding all-state player with tremendous upside. Lauren Woods epitomizes excellence in every sense of the word and we are thrilled to have her as the inaugural member of our 2009 signing class."
