NORTH PLATTE -- Leona May Houghtelling, daughter of Ira Andrew and Matilda May (Fisher) Williams was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Bird City Kan. She departed this life Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Linden Court in North Platte Nebraska. She was 85 years old.

Leona married Milton J. Houghtelling, Sr. at Oberlin, Kan., in 1943. To this union there were six children born. There were four sons: Milton James, Jr. of Denver, Colo., Kenneth Eugene of Holyoke, Colo., Richard Lee Houghtelling, North Platte, Gilbert Dean Houghtelling, Kearney and two daughters: Carrie Klock of North Platte and Diane of Castle Rock, Colo. Also surviving 12 Grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by many neices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Matilda Williams; sons, Richard Lee and Gilbert Dean Houghtelling; sisters, Arlene Emig, Oma Lawver; brothers William, Russell, George, Dale and Harrison (Avery) Williams.

She is survived by her sons, Milton James Houghtelling, Jr. of Denver, Colo., Kenneth Eugene Houghtelling of Holyoke, Colo.; daughters, Carrie Ann Klock of North Platte, Diana Lynn Wittman of Castle Rock, Colo.; brothers, Robert Williams of Chapman, Maine, Verl Williams of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Lois Pennell of Grand Island; 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 13, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Terry McCorkle officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday until 5 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m.- noon and Sunday 6- 8 p.m.
