ARAPAHOE -- Daniel Sherman "Tugboat" Snell, 58, formerly of Holbrook, died Feb. 19, 2009, at his home in Arapahoe.

He was born June 6, 1950, at Hastings to Christopher C. and Mary Ellen (Jedounek) Snell. He attended school and graduated from Hastings High School in 1968. After high school he entered the U.S. Marines and served in Guam and Japan, before going to Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged in 1973.

He married Charlene Titman on Oct. 29, 1977. They later divorced.

In 1979, he went to Lockport, La., and worked as a deckhand on a "tugboat" for a year and then became captain. In 1989, he moved to Cambridge and worked for Cambridge Coop. In 1998, he worked for Adams Construction in Arapahoe until 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Misty Rose and husband, Larry Vickers of Fort Morgan, Colo.; brothers, Richard and wife, Carol Snell of Craig, Colo., and Thomas Snell of Sunnyvale, Calif.; sister, Molly Snell of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 6:30 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Brad Harris officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
