John M. Leopold

LINCOLN -- John M. Leopold, 91, died Monday (March 2, 2009).
He was born July 14, 1917, in Danbury to Eugene and Jennie (Bennett) Leopold. He lived in Lincoln and was a retired finish carpenter.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and American Legion Post No. 3.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Alberta, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Lincoln; son, Bill and wife, Paula of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; daughter, Phyllis and husband, Bob Smallfoot of Lincoln; step-sons, Rodney Ponce of Lincoln and Tom Ponce of Norfolk; step-daughters, Barb Brozek and husband, Doug of Norfolk and Teresa Horalek and Patty Ponce, both of Lincoln; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday at St. John's Catholic Church 7601 Vine Street in Lincoln with the Rev. Lyle Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.
Rosary is tonight at 7 p.m., at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street in Lincoln.
Memorials may be given to the church.
