Bison freshman boys fall to Lexington

The McCook High School freshman boys basketball team dropped a 48-46 decision in overtime to Lexington Thursday at the MHS gymnasium.

Lexington outscored the host Bison 3-1 in overtime after McCook went on an 18-12 run in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 45-45 at the end of regulation play.

The Minutemen led at halftime 18-16.

Matt Chitwood led the Bison with 14 points and Kyle Gaston added 13. Tyson Karr and Joel Baker each scored 6 points, Gabe Ware 4 and Will Burkert 3.

Jeremy Callahan led the Minutemen with 20 points. Danny Penaflor scored 14 and Abraham Pop 8. Austin Roemmich added 3 points, Alex Hovie 2 and Bubba Ranek 1.

The McCook freshman boys and girls host Colby at 4 p.m. tonight and Ogallala at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday.
