Girls division

Dundy County-Stratton edged by Hitchcock County in the semifinals 45-41.

Amanda Downey led the Tigers with 16 points and Hilary Wilson had 13. Brittany Shillington was the leading rebounders with 7 and April Lutz had 6. Downey and Wilson both had 3 rebounds.

"We started the game off slow and couldn't get anything going offensively or defensively," said Tigers coach Nathan Behlke. "Going into half we had an 11-point deficit, but the girls picked up the intensity in the second half and played much harder. We cut the lead to 2 points late in the fourth quarter, but could not quite seal the deal. As a team we need to find a way to get the the foul line and make some free throws."

The Tigers fell to Arapahoe 56-53 in overtime.

Wilson and Shillington both had 16 points for the Tigers and Downey 10. Downey and Shillington had 10 rebounds, Wilson 9 and Taylor Lutz 4.

"We looked like an entirely different team from the night before, our defense was intense, we got some easy baskets from efficiency of our offense and we played our own game," Behlke said. "The girls played with a lot of heart and confidence and are starting to believe they can win.

"It was a close game the entire way and ended up in overtime. Once in overtime we had a couple girls in foul trouble and had to have a couple girls step up and fill in, they did a great job; we just fell 3 points short."
