Julie and Jon Sparrow

WAUNETA -- Julie Long of Wauneta and Jon Sparrow of Keswick, Iowa were united in marriage on April 12, 2008, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta with the Rev. Greg Stuckwisch officiating.

Parents of the couple are James and Annette Long of Wauneta, Kim York of Shueyville, Iowa and Jon Sparrow of Iowa City, Iowa.

Grandparents of the bride are Violet Long of Wauntea and the late Wendell Long and the late Donnie and Ann Castens.

Grandparents of the bridegroom are Violet Williams of Cedar Raapids, Iowa and the late Ted Williams and the late Melvin and Orba Sparrow.

Jessica Long, sister of the bride, of Lincoln was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Melissa Long, sister of the bride, of Kearney, Erin Svoboda of Omaha, Lindsay Kellams of Ashland, and Kristin Laughlin of Ashland.

Jeremy Schwartz of Bedford, Iowa served as best man. Bridegroomsmen were Mike Miner of Anamosa, Iowa, Matt Holthaus of Centreville, Va., Frank Babinski of Pender and Wayne Vanweelden of Whatcheer, Iowa.

Kurstann Horinek, cousin of the bride, of Atwood was the flower girl and Jacobi Castens, cousin of bride, of Ludell, Kan., was the ring bearer. Candlelighters were Shelby and Sierra Castens, cousins of bride, of Ludell.

Ushers were Cole Castens,cousin of bride, of Ludell, Ben Anderson of Omaha and Ryan Kellams of Ashland. The organist was Kathy Bartels of Wauneta and Melanie Miller of McCook was the soloist.

A reception was in the Wauneta Legion Hall. Guestbook attendants were Misty and Mandilyn Horinek of Ludell, Wendy and Summer Castens of Ludell and Dee Schilz of McCook.

Host couples were Chris and Gina Williams of Cedar Rapids and Steve and Gayla Swisher of McCook.

The bride works for the State of Nebraska, Department of Revenue as a revenue auditor. The bridegroom is employed with LBBJ Feedlots as a feedlot manager.

After a honeymoon in Estes Park, Colo., the couple will make their home in Pender.
